** U.S. House Passes Budget Bill that Defunds the Abortion Industry
------------------------------------------------------------
Late last week, the U.S. House passed a landmark bill that eliminates Federal funding of the abortion industry - including Planned Parenthood.
Through Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid scheme, they alone performed 402,230 abortions in 2023 – or about 4 of every 10 abortions nationwide.
* $792.2 million (39%) of Planned Parenthood’s revenue, as reported in its 2023-24 budget ([link removed]) , came from taxpayers in the form of “Government Health Services Reimbursements & Grants,” a 13% increase from the previous year.
* Abortions outnumbered prenatal care by 57 to1.
The bill has moved to the U.S. Senate. Because it's a reconciliation bill, it only requires 51 votes to pass. Republicans currently have a 53-47 majority in the Senate. In case of a tie vote, Vice President JD Vance would break the tie.
Speaker Mike Johnson shared his goal to get the bill to President Trump’s desk by July 4, and asked senators to be mindful of a “delicate equilibrium.” Read his remarks here ([link removed]) .

** Federal Judge Rules EEOC Exceeded Its Authority
------------------------------------------------------------
U.S. District Judge David Joseph struck down a regulation ([link removed]) imposed by the Biden administration’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) that forced employers to accommodate elective abortions under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA).
Under the Biden administration, the EEOC classified abortion as a “related medical condition” under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. Judge Joseph found that the EEOC had exceeded its statutory authority and wrote, “[A]ny analysis of the Final Rule must begin with the presumption that Congress’s decision not to include any reference to abortion in the PWFA was intentional.”
Georgia had joined 16 others states who challenged the provisions ([link removed]) arguing that the regulations go beyond the scope of the 2022 law that passed with bipartisan support. Wednesday’s ruling substantiates the 17-state challenge and restores separation of powers and the original intent of the law.
** Another Heartbreaking Story;
------------------------------------------------------------
** Another Media Attempt to Blame Georgia’s LIFE Act for a Tragic Situation
------------------------------------------------------------
In February, Adriana Smith, a registered nurse at Emory University Hospital, was nearly nine weeks pregnant when she started experiencing intense headaches. According to the original news story, ([link removed]) she sought treatment at Northside Hospital where she was released after being given medication but no tests. The next morning, she was gasping for air in her sleep and emergency-transported to Emory where she received a CT scan that revealed multiple blood clots in her brain. Tragically, they declared Adriana “brain dead,” and have kept her on life-support to save the other patient - the life of her baby boy.

Adriana has been on life support for over 90-days now and doctors told her family that Adriana’s baby showed some fluid around the brain. In an update to the story ([link removed]) , Adriana’s now 23-week baby has been named Chance and he is showing signs of improvement. According to Adriana’s mother, “The baby is actually doing better than the last time I met with the doctors.” Baby Chance's heartbeat is strong and that he's measuring slightly above average in weight for his gestational age. “He has his toes, arms, limbs — everything is forming,” she said. “The journey is for baby Chance to survive — and whatever condition God allows him to come here in, we’re going to love him just the same, and we’re gonna embrace him.”
While the media stays busy looking for ways to demonize Georgia’s LIFE Act, two of Georgia’s pro-life champions, the author of the LIFE Act and the chief defender of the LIFE Act, made poignant statements:
State Senator Ed Setzler (R-Acworth,) author of the 2019 LIFE Act said, "I’m thankful for the hospital recognizing the full value of this small human life that’s living inside of this tragically dying young mother; mindful of the agony of this young mother’s family."
Attorney General Chris Carr issued the following statement, “There is nothing in the LIFE Act [the heartbeat law] that requires medical professionals to keep a woman on life support after brain death. Removing life support is not an action with the purpose to terminate a pregnancy.”
Time-after-time, the media uses our fellow citizens’ pain and agony to attack Georgia’s LIFE Act without context or foundation. Georgia’s pro-life movement will put HOPE OVER FEAR to decrease the pain and hurt and trauma of difficult situations, not to multiply it.
Please pray for Adriana, her family, and for baby Chance as we await his delivery in early August.
