John, it's time to take action.
You may remember SB 1003, the radical assisted suicide expansion bill that hundreds of you submitted testimony in opposition to. Your presence successfully delayed the bill until the very end and weakened it with amendments.
Ultimately, the bill moved to another committee without recommendation – typically a death sentence for legislation. Not all Democrats are aligned on this radical expansion, and yet some are pushing it through the process.
SB 1003 is scheduled for a public hearing on Monday, June 2nd, and I need two things from you:
- Submit testimony in opposition to this radical assisted suicide expansion
- Contact your Senator
- Show up in person on Monday
SB 1003 would…
- Expand language to allow non-physicians to prescribe lethal medication under Oregon’s “Death With Dignity Act;”
- Cut the state’s 15-day waiting period in half;
- Require hospices and hospitals to disclose whether they participate in assisted suicide to every patient admitted to their facility, no matter their diagnosis.
This bill is about death on demand. It’s insane, and it must be defeated.
