Where do we go from here?

It is tempting to be pessimistic in a time like this. Disappointment may be warranted. But despair is not. As people of faith, our hope never rests on human efforts. We know that it has a firmer foundation.

At First Things our hope rests in him who created us and in whose image we are made.

This hope allows us to look with confidence to the future. A great and daunting task stands before us. We must emerge from the challenges of the present moment and rebuild. First Things stands ready for the task. But we cannot do this work alone.

This week marks the start of the online part of our spring fundraising campaign. Our goal this year is to raise $500,000 from our print and online readers by Sunday, July 5. It’s an ambitious goal; and these are uncertain times. But the need is real.

As elites in politics, business, law, and the academy suppress the voices of the dissenters whom they despise, now is the time to speak out. Now is the time for First Things.

2020 marks the thirtieth anniversary of First Things. That makes this year’s campaign all the more important. Over the next three weeks, you’ll be hearing from me a bit more frequently as I share with you news and updates from the campaign. I hope you’ll join us in the weeks to come by making a gift, yes, but also by adding your voice to our work. Please like our content on social media and share our posts so that our community can continue to grow.
