Hi friend, it’s Mitch Landrieu — former mayor of New Orleans, former lieutenant governor of Louisiana, and proud supporter of Fair Fight’s pro-democracy work.

Today, I want to talk to you about the stakes and the possibilities in Louisiana, the South, and our national fight against anti-voter extremism.

You see, Donald Trump’s MAGA extremism is turning off so many Americans that it gives us new chances to fight back and win for democracy in more places, as long as we have the resources to seize those opportunities.

Trump has empowered an unelected billionaire to break the federal government, abandoned allies to curry favor with enemies, broken down the rule of law, pushed tariffs that would be the largest working-class tax increase in modern American history, and planned massive tax cuts to the rich at the expense of working families.

It’s also abundantly clear that he’s motivating Americans to fight back. Just look at the huge swings toward Democrats in red districts for special elections, or the millions of Americans from big cities to small towns across the country taking to the streets, or Louisiana — where resounding majorities rejected a recent attempted Republican power grab by defeating four proposed constitutional amendments.

But if we want to broaden those glimmers of hope, we’ve got to make smart, ongoing investments in pro-democracy grassroots organizing, and we must ensure equal access to the ballot box.

That’s why I’m proud to partner with Fair Fight to build pro-voter political power and tackle voter suppression. And every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. Make a contribution of $30 or whatever you can to help elect voting rights champions and fight for free and fair elections in the South and across America >> [[link removed]]

Now, when you think about major swing states, your mind might not immediately go to Louisiana. But that’s what people were saying about Georgia a decade ago, before Stacey Abrams launched her historic campaign for governor.

She had the foresight to play the long game with early investments in grassroots organizing. She showed that by inspiring and empowering new voters, you can change what’s possible. And it paid off when Georgia went blue in a presidential election for the first time in 28 years, and when Georgians flipped control of the U.S. Senate by electing the first Black and Jewish senators in the state’s history.

Her leadership proved that we can make real strides in the South. And she founded Fair Fight to continue combatting voter suppression and keep on electing voting rights champions. I’m grateful for her vision, and I’m grateful for your support — you are helping to change the game.

Take it from someone who won two statewide elections here: Louisiana has the potential to be one of the next big battlegrounds — if Fair Fight can continue working alongside activists like you who invest early, plan strategically, and continue the fight against anti-voter extremists.

Together, let’s ensure that the South is not ignored or disenfranchised — but empowered — and that we can defeat voter suppression across America. If you’re able, make a donation to Fair Fight and defend democracy with us. [[link removed]]
