A recently released analysis of generally available public insurance data from 865,727 prescribed chemical abortions between 2017 and 2023 shows that 94,605 women experienced serious adverse events – the type of events that can put you in the emergency room. That is more than one in ten women – twenty-two times higher than the FDA’s claimed rate.  

These harms include sepsis, infection, hemorrhage, incomplete abortion, or another serious adverse event. The FDA’s purpose is to promote the health and safety of Americans, not put them in the emergency room. Yet, the safety of women has been undermined by political whims.
