JUFJ: new DC paid leave regs don’t cover all workers Last month, DC started collecting taxes for paid family and medical leave. Last week, key regulations were published that will decide who gets access to paid leave next year, when the program starts. But, reports Jews United for Justice, there's a serious problem with the regulations. “Under these regs, tens of thousands of workers, especially low-income women of color, may not be able to access paid family leave,” says JUFJ DC Campaigns Manager Joanna Blotner. “This is not the universal paid leave that we fought hard to pass in 2016,” says Blotner. Click here now to write to the Office of Paid Family Leave and let them know that the Universal Paid Leave Act should be truly universal. “Let's roll up our sleeves and get to work now so that we can all access our leave next year,” says Blotner.

The Exposition is August 24th and 25th at Coppin State University in Baltimore, MD.

"American Factory" released on Netflix today Cultures collide. Hope survives. When a Chinese billionaire re-opens a factory and hires two thousand blue-collar Americans, early days of hope and optimism give way to setbacks as high-tech China clashes with working-class America. That’s the story explored in American Factory, a gripping new film released on Netflix today. With precision and astonishing access, directors Julia Reichert and Steven Bognar capture every key moment in this high-stakes intercultural chess game, revealing how American and Chinese workers view themselves within systems of authority. What results is an epic masterwork about the future of American labor and Chinese economic dominance, all within the confines of a factory in Ohio.
