Victory! Defending the Lead Out of Water Rule in Congress!

([link removed])

Thanks to supporters like you and our allies, we have defended the Lead Out of Water Rule from efforts to repeal it in Congress! This is a huge testament to our power to protect our water. Months of rallies, messages, and letter deliveries won support from key lawmakers.

However, the fight isn’t over. An industry lawsuit threatens this rule, and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin must defend it. It’s imperative that this public health protection goes into effect so we can finally get the lead out of our water. Tell the EPA: Defend our water from lead and toxic PFAS! ([link removed])

Holding Bayer Accountable for the Harms of Its Pesticides

Nationwide, pesticide giant Bayer is working to pass bills to shield it from health-related lawsuits, including in Iowa, where pesticide use has exploded alongside cancer rates. Iowans deserve justice and accountability, and we weren’t going to let Bayer take that away with its Cancer Gag Act.

After Bayer’s last-ditch effort to pass the bill this month, we officially defeated it! ([link removed]) This is a massive victory for people power against cruel corporate greed.

Protecting Funding for School Lunches!

Thanks to our relentless advocacy, in late April, the House Education Workforce and Committee excluded cuts to funding for school meals from its portion of the budget bill!

Early proposals for Republicans’ budget bill threatened cuts to a federal program providing free and reduced-cost school meals — literally taking food out of children’s mouths.

Now, as the budget battle progresses, we’re continuing the fight against additional cruel cuts ([link removed]) to food, water, and other essential programs.

Celebrating 20 years at Against All Odds!

This month, we had a great time celebrating our 20th anniversary at our Against All Odds Benefit and Conference!

We heard from amazing speakers, including Zephyr Teachout and Senator Cory Booker, and looked back on 20 years of incredible victories.

Thanks to all who joined us to ring in this important milestone!

Since inauguration day, 260,000 federal government workers have left or been fired.

That includes staff working on everything from bird flu to healthcare for veterans and Native Americans to putting out forest fires. This is a major part of Elon Musk’s agenda for Trump 2.0, with layoffs and buyout programs coming out of his “Department of Government Efficiency.” And while Musk is now stepping back from D.C., his ideas aren’t going anywhere. Take Action: Stop Dangerous Budget Cuts!

While we celebrate a victory on school lunches, we’re also fighting newly announced plans for this budget bill. Those include provisions to fast-track dirty energy projects ([link removed]) and major blows to SNAP food assistance ([link removed]) — all to pay for tax cuts for corporations and billionaires.

We expect even more extreme proposals to cut food, water, and health funding in the coming weeks. Tell your Senators: Don’t defund our food and water! ([link removed])

Defending Our Food and Water in the Courts

Our legal team is working in the courts to defend protections for our food, water, and climate as Trump takes aim at bedrock environmental laws and the rule of law itself.

For June’s Livable Future LIVE, we’ll hear from Food & Water Watch Legal Director Tarah Heinzen and allies about how we’re defending clean water, family farms, and the climate from industry attacks and regulatory rollbacks.

RSVP to join us on June 18! ([link removed])

Amid the constant onslaught of news, individual voices and stories have the power to cut through the noise. These stories are essential to letting leaders know exactly what’s at stake, and help us defend vital protections and programs. From rolling back lead protections to slashing federal grants and jobs, Trump’s cuts are harming many of us directly.

Are you or will you be directly impacted by a Trump cut? We’d love to hear from you. Reply to this email to share your story!
