Convicted tax cheat pardoned by Trump after mom attended $1 million-per-plate Mar-a-Lago dinner
We're not just talking "oops i forgot to pay my taxes" here. Convicted felon Paul Walczak is a full-on supercriminal, a Florida nursing home executive sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay nearly $4.4 million in restitution after pleading guilty to brazen tax fraud. According to The New York Times, Walczak actually withheld more than $10 million from the paychecks of the doctors and nurses who worked at his facilities for years under the pretext of using it for their Social Security, Medicare, and federal income taxes. Instead, he siphoned said employee tax payments to fund a luxury lifestyle that included a $2 million yacht. Oops! At his sentencing, the presiding judge justified sending Walczak to prison, noting there "is not a get-out-of-jail-free card" for the wealthy. Actually, under Trump, there most certainly is. The story just keeps getting worse if you dig deeper. In the pardon petition submitted to the Trump administration, Walczak's megadonor mother, Elizabeth Fago, literally highlighted her involvement in efforts to sabotage Joe Biden's 2020 campaign by publicizing the stolen diary of his daughter Ashley Biden to show her true MAGA bona fides. It is so good to be great again.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump issues stunning celebrity pardon
As if the Walczak pardon wasn't bad enough, Trump has now also pardoned an obnoxious, wealthy reality TV couple, Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were convicted of tax evasion and serious bank fraud in excess of $30 million. It’s open season for white collar crime under the Trump regime…as long as the president and his team get a slice.

Trump abandons tornado victims in Kentucky
Team Kentucky: It's been days since deadly tornadoes ravaged three states, killing 28 people and leaving countless homes and businesses destroyed in their wake — with no acknowledgement from Donald Trump. Help may not be coming at all, judging from how Trump blocked tornado victims in Arkansas from receiving federal recovery aid last month and rejected the state's disaster declaration. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear is refusing to wait for federal help that may never come and is taking matters into his own hands, launching a crowdfunding effort to help get storm victims the relief they desperately need. Will you chip in to help your fellow Americans in need?
Bezos’ Washington Post gives staff ultimatum as it pushes them out
The internal teardown at The Washington Post, once a proud institution now corrupted by its mega-billionaire space-cowboy owner, is fully underway, as opinion writers, staffers with 10 years’ experience, and other employees have been offered buyout packages to just leave the paper altogether. The opinion desk was told the buyouts were meant to let staffers "make a clear-eyed decision on whether they want to be part of the new direction for Post Opinion" — that new direction clearly being a sharp veer to the political right. In other words, get with the Trump program, or get out.

Get ready for several years of killer heat, top weather forecasters warn
Oh, good. Let's definitely continued doing exactly nothing to prepare for further catastrophe while also gutting sensible rules and regulations put in place by the EPA to help keep us nominally safer! Oh, almost forgot. Let's also be sure to deny FEMA recovery funds to help rebuild communities decimated by ever-strengthening storms and natural disasters. This is a solid plan, people.

ICE snatches rural Missouri mom at immigration check-in
Carol Mayorga, a Kennett, Missouri, resident and soccer mom of three who has lived and worked in the United States for two decades, showed up for a routine meeting in St. Louis to renew her work authorization. Homeland Security agents then left her alone in a room for seven hours before shackling her at the wrist, waist, and ankles and throwing her into a series of ICE prisons across Missouri for...following the rules and doing everything she was supposed to do. They're now trying to deport Mayorga to Hong Kong. "If you're looking for a model citizen — she works hard, she takes care of her kids, she makes sure they have everything they need," said Lisa Dry, a city council member who said she’s known Mayorga since 2020. "I mean, to me, that’s the kind of citizen we want here." Actually, according to MAGA, she most certainly is not.
Trump claims Canada is considering becoming 51st state in exchange for free Golden Dome protection
Oh, definitely, for sure, because if there's any country out there in mortal danger of being attacked with intercontinental missiles, it's clearly Canada. In response, a doubtlessly incredulous spokesperson in Mark Carney's office released a statement reading; "The prime minister has been clear at every opportunity, including in his conversations with President Trump, that Canada is an independent, sovereign nation, and it will remain one."

GOP lawmakers plot to kick millions off their healthcare
Care Can’t Wait: Lawmakers are coming for Medicaid — the program that covers more than 1 in 5 Americans. We’re talking kids, seniors, people with disabilities, caregivers, and millions of everyday folks who rely on it just to get by. The people who literally keep households running are being shut out of basic health coverage. Without Medicaid, essential doctor visits, medications, and basic care is out of reach for so many. Click here to tell your reps it’s time to fix that mess and DEMAND they take action to protect our healthcare!
Elon Musk whines that White House made DOGE a "whipping boy for everything"
Lashing out at the MAGA cult leader for the second time in the past week, the richest man on earth played one incredibly pathetic victim card, complaining that the Trump administration has unfairly made his comically stupid and dangerous DOGE crusade its go-to scapegoat. "DOGE is just becoming the whipping boy for everything," Musk told The Washington Post. "So, like, something bad would happen anywhere, and we would get blamed for it even if we had nothing to do with it." Just a hunch, but maybe prancing about on stage wielding a literal chainsaw like some kind of WWE heel made Elon an obvious target? And if the ketamine enthusiast really believed bankrolling Donald Trump's return to the White House would buy him the wannabe dictator's loyalty, perhaps he's not nearly the genius he desperately wants us all to think he is.
Sentient jockstrap Tommy Tuberville launches run for governor of Alabama
The hallowed halls of Congress will soon have a new World's Dumbest American Senator™ as Alabama knuckledragger and man who once argued white nationalism isn't actually racist at all really Tommy Tuberville formally announced his plans to leave the upper chamber and run for governor. One small step for a simpleton, one giant leap backwards for Alabamankind.
Trump blames Europe as deadly impact of US cuts on AIDS pandemic grows
Yes, clearly Europe is to blame for the catastrophic impact of Donald Trump and Elon Musk's sweeping funding cuts to international AIDS prevention programs. The United Nations has estimated that the MAGA cult leader's slashing of foreign aid could lead to as many as four million additional deaths by 2030, but let's definitely keep pointing stubby fingers at Germany and France.
Elon Musk's Starship rocket loses control on its 9th launch
SpaceX's newest rocket unceremoniously blew up during flight...again...in what is quickly becoming a poignant representation of private sector vanities for the megawealthy. The multi-billion-dollar "Starship" rocket, which is paid for partially by US taxpayers, suffered a "rapid unscheduled disassembly" (meaning it blew up) for the third time in what Musk curiously celebrated as "an improvement." The previous detonations had showered debris over the Caribbean, forcing airliners to divert to avoid being struck by falling pieces of Musk's ego. As if all this wasn't bad enough, the "Starship" launchpad sits next to a wildlife refuge, where the launches destroy the nests of vulnerable shorebirds and the facility pours thousands of gallons of wastewater into the surrounding environment in violation of the Clean Water Act. Reminder: the Saturn V rocket had 13 missions, all successful, and only two were unmanned.
