Rayshard Brooks, a Black man, was executed by police for falling asleep in his car at a Wendy's in Georgia.

While the answers to the systemic racism that has poisoned our nation from the very beginning go far beyond elections, there can be no doubt that elections are part of the solution. Elections have consequences.

Help Black Lives Matter have 2 new strong voices in Congress. Donate to help Charles Booker defeat Mitch McConnell for US Senate and Jamaal Bowman defeat a 31-year incumbent in NY-16.

Both of these candidates have huge momentum leading up to their primaries next week.

Jamaal Bowman (NY-16) shares this story of Driving While Black: While driving to pick up his 3-year-old son, Jamaal was pulled over for supposedly not using a blinker. He wound up in jail as his son waited. He reflected, "When you are locked in a cage, you suddenly are no longer human."

In contrast, the 31-year congressional incumbent he's challenging -- Eliot Engel -- was caught on a hot mic pushing to speak at a Black Lives Matter rally, saying, "If I didn’t have a primary, I wouldn’t care."

Jamaal says, "We need leaders who understand what we are going through." Unlike Engel, he really cares. It's one reason we endorsed his race to replace three-decade Congressman Engel. AOC and Bernie endorse Jamaal also. And so does the New York Times.

Charles Booker (KY-Sen) has been on the front lines of the peaceful protests for Black Lives. He's also our 1-shot to defeat Mitch McConnell. Like Jamaal, Charles has lifetime of experience with systemic racism, telling one reporter recently, "I'm concerned about my neighborhood. I've had cousins murdered the last four years. I've had to ration my insulin. I've seen people that have been traumatized by their doors being kicked in and their loved ones being take away."

His opponent in the primary was recruited by DC Democrats. She stumbled out the gate, saying she would have voted for Brett Kavanaugh for Supreme Court. She criticizes McConnell for blocking Trump from doing even more! And she's been absent on Black Lives Matter at a time when Black voters will be key to victory.

AOC, Bernie, Sunrise Movement, the PCCC, and both major papers in the state endorsed Charles Booker. The Lexington paper wrote:

Jamaal and Charles can be powerful voices for Black Lives Matter in Congress. But they need to get there, and to do that they need our help winning their primaries next week.

Donate to help Jamaal Bowman and Charles Booker win.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.
