Today is a historic day. Until today's Supreme Court ruling, it was legal for an employer to discriminate against and even fire employees that identify as LGBTQ+. Let me be clear: being true to who you are or who you love should not be a fireable offense. Full stop.

I cannot begin to describe how important this is. People have fought lifetimes for this moment, and today, we are here.

And, like many times before, justice today has a unique sense of timing. This ruling comes almost five years to the day after the Supreme Court said that, yes, love is love and marriage equality shall be the law of the land.

But, as with all fights for equality, we can't rest on our victories; our work continues. This was true when I was one of the first U.S. Senators to stand up for marriage equality, and it's true each day we work together to make our country a better place for each and every person who calls it home.

We won a big one today.

But we have many, many more fights ahead.

Onward,

Ron
