John,

Today, we’ve learned that the Supreme Court has made a landmark ruling that an individual cannot be fired from their job simply because of who they love or for their gender identity. This is wonderful news!

June is Pride month. Across the country, LGBTQ individuals and allies are sharing their stories, fostering community, and honoring those before us who fought to earn justice, equality, and inclusion for LGBTQ Americans.

Unfortunately, however, millions of Americans continue to face discrimination in other areas like housing and education.

That’s why Abigail was a co-sponsor and voted to pass the Equality Act. This bill prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation in employment, housing, education, and a number of other critical areas. In a time where many civil rights are under attack, it’s vital that we have the protections explicitly written into Federal law.

But, John, despite passing the House with bipartisan support, the Senate refuses to act.

Tell the Senate: Take up the Equality Act

Each day, millions of Americans face discrimination simply for who they love. That means they can be evicted, kicked out of school, or have their life upended in many other ways.

Can you stand with Abigail and tell Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to take up the Equality Act to help protect LGBTQ individuals and their families?

Your support and your voice will help put pressure on McConnell and the Senate to vote on this issue that is so critical to so many, here in Central Virginia and beyond.

Thank you,
Bettina Weiss
