Are you a Memphis educator - or can you connect us to local teachers who are ready to build our collective power? Cruel and corrupt politicians have screwed up school systems nationwide. But recent teacher movements from West Virginia and Arizona to Chicago and Los Angeles won huge victories for public schools by building power from the bottom up.
Locally we see our school board failing to lead, dissolving into in-fighting while the state government threatens a devastating takeover. So what are Memphis teachers going to do?
Organize!
From efforts built out of the MMDSA Workplace Organizing Committee, we are seeking to build a movement of local educators ready to fight for a stronger school system that:
We're a small-but-mighty group of local educators in MMDSA looking to connect with teachers and other educators in the Memphis and West Tennessee public schools (including charters) to study recent teacher movements in red states and blue cities as the foundation for organizing our own teacher-powered movement
Use the link below to sign up and get involved - or share this link with local educators you think would be interested in connecting with us!
Wednesday, May 28, 6 - 7 @ RP Tracks
