They say that sanctions are necessary for the UK to meet its "fundamental international legal obligations" as Israel commits war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
This shows that our demand for sanctions on Israel is gathering support across society. Now we need the government to step up and take the level of action that is needed in the face of this genocide.

"All states, including the UK, are legally obliged to take all reasonable steps within their power to prevent and punish genocide... The UK’s actions to date have failed to meet those standards."
Last week, the government suspended new trade talks with Israel. This was a step forward, which we had been demanding for many months.
But now they must go much further. Currently, UK trade with Israel continues as normal under the existing deal, and the UK continues to send a huge amount of arms to Israel.
The British government must come out now and institute comprehensive sanctions to put pressure on Israel, including immediate suspension of the current UK-Israel trade agreement.
