The plastics industry is supporting federal legislation that would weaken protections from pollution and emissions caused by pyrolysis plants.

These facilities superheat plastic – derived from fossil fuels – to create fuels and chemicals that can lead to even more greenhouse gas emissions, worsening the climate crisis and creating large amounts of toxic waste in the process.

Often concealed under greenwashed names like “chemical recycling” and “advanced recycling,” these glorified incinerators are just another scheme the fossil fuel industry is using to continue polluting at the planet’s expense.
