Fellow American,

I’m sure you’ve heard by now the liberal cries to “defund the police,” but that is not the solution. It is dangerous, and will leave our citizens vulnerable and unprotected.

What happened in Minneapolis with the killing of George Floyd is horrific and unacceptable. I share in the anger and frustration of the American people following this awful tragedy.

Too many Americans still experience hate and discrimination because of the color of their skin. That has to stop. This is a time for listening, learning, and healing in this country.

But make no mistake: defunding the police won’t solve the problems we currently face. Police officers in Nebraska and across the country put their lives on the line every single day to serve and protect our communities. They deserve our gratitude and support.

Democrats joining in on the cries to defund the police are taking their cues from the liberal mob, and that never ends well.

Please keep that in mind as we engage in a national dialogue about how to heal America.
