Let’s start from the beginning. I was born in Boulder and learned how to walk on the lawns at the University of Colorado School of Law, where my Father was a student, and my Mother took care of me. Over twenty years later, I graduated from the law school with my Juris Doctorate degree.
That’s what motivated me to serve in public office and ensure that the people of Colorado have a meaningful voice in the decisions that impact our state.
That drive led me to the state House, where I proudly served as Colorado’s first Latina Speaker. It was an honor to speak at the Democratic National Convention in 2016 and at the White House during the Obama years.

I even made it to the Harvard Kennedy School as part of the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program. While living in New York, I took my daughter on a road trip to Cambridge when she was learning to walk, and we took many steps together on the lawns.

These are challenging times, and Colorado needs an Attorney General who will fight to improve the lives of the next generation, protect our neighborhoods, and defend the rights of all.
From Trump’s attacks on our freedoms to billionaires like Elon Musk threatening our democracy, I know we need to do more. And just recently, the House GOP passed massive cuts to Medicaid and food assistance.
