We know this is a difficult moment for so many people across the country. While the fight must go on to replace the leaders who are failing us, we understand if you’d like to take a break from our email updates. To hit pause on these emails for the next week, let us know here. Team— I want to take a minute to address something head on. I’ve started hearing claims that I’m somehow “pro-Trump.” (That will come as a surprise to the McConnell campaign, which is on TV right now telling voters the opposite.) Let me clear this up right now. I’m “pro” doing what it takes to help Kentuckians. I’m pro-America and I’m pro-Constitution. As a senator, I’ll work with any administration to help Kentuckians, because that’s my job. But it also means I’m not afraid to stand up to any administration when they’re wrong. (Believe me, after 89 combat missions, I don’t anticipate having any trouble with that.) And that’s where I’m different from Mitch McConnell. He’s spent 35 years in Washington thinking about things only in terms of winning power for himself and his party, as if everything was playing out on some partisan checkerboard. Kentuckians are tired of that. They’re fed up with politicians treating their health care and their livelihoods like a game. The voters I’ve met want a senator who will go to Washington with strong principles and beliefs and fight like hell for the people she represents—not for the interest groups that pull Mitch’s strings. I knew when I decided to run for office that a whole lot of silly, mean-spirited, off-the-wall things were going to be said about me. And that’s especially true when you’re running against Mitch McConnell. But I’ll never let anyone mislead voters about who I am or where I stand. Our primary election is in eight days, and our focus is getting out the vote across Kentucky. If you’re able, chip in what you can, and let’s show the world we have what it takes to defend our democracy and defeat Mitch McConnell. Thank you,
