Beyond Disgraceful NHS Cuts!

NHS Trusts in England are being told to make efficiency savings and deep cuts because apparently, we are billions of pounds ‘overspent’ and need a ‘financial reset’.
As The Guardian reports,’

‘Hospitals in England are cutting staff, closing services and planning to ration care in order to make “eye-watering” savings demanded by NHS bosses.’ Cuts to this extent will inevitably have a devastating impact.

Quite a lot of this so called ‘overspend’ or ‘deficit’ is due to NHS Trusts having no option but to employ lots of agency staff to cover the many vacant posts we now have in our NHS. The Tories spent years undermining our NHS through year upon year of underfunding, cutting services to the bone, costly restructures, privatisation by stealth, real-terms pay cuts, cutting training bursaries for nurses, and much more besides. This led to huge stress on services and a big exodus of valuable and experienced staff.

The cuts the current Labour government are making are unnecessary. Austerity is a political and ideological choice. In a rich sovereign state like the U.K., we could choose to do things differently such as tax the very rich a bit more and invest in our NHS and other vital public services.

The Labour needs to stop all NHS cuts now, re-build our NHS into the world class service it was before the Tory Party started its austerity cuts, reinstate nursing bursaries, restore pay, and stop all privatisation and outsourcing.

Starmer is starting to feel the pressure to reverse some cuts and take more of an anti austerity direction. So its crucial we keep up the pressure, boldly call out all austerity, cuts and inequality, and come together united against Austerity 2.0 on the 7th June (and beyond) at the National Demonstration,12pm, Portland Place, London. Join Us!

See below for info on the National Demonstration.

The National Demonstration is now supported by most of the major trade unions and many campaigns. We urge all to support, promote and attend this really important Demonstration and encourage you to get your organisations and trade unions to also do the same.

A Model Motion to support and promote the demo is
here. Please take this to your trade union branch, region or national office.

Please contribute to our demo crowdfunder if you can. See

There will be coaches going from various parts of the country. We will update our
website as we get details. Please encourage your trade union or organisation to put on transport or contribute towards coach costs in your local area (Many trade unions are supporting the demonstration, so speak to your local branch or region). Please email us at [email protected] if you have organised a coach and we'll add the details to our website.

Can you help us leaflet for the National Demonstration? We need volunteers to help us leaflet throughout the country for the Demonstration, but especially in or around the London area. Can you help? Please email us on
[email protected]
