May 26 – Today is Memorial day, an American holiday to honor soldiers who have fought and died in wars. When I was growing up, it used to be a solemn, reverent day to remember relatives who’d died to make America free, end slavery, or defeat fascism.

But, like everything else, Trump wants to warp the ideas of patriotism and service to benefit himself and his fossil fueled fascist regime. The Army was already planning a parade to celebrate their founding on June 14, but when Trump got wind of it — and since June 14 is also his Birthday — he's demanded the war parade be supersized and redesigned to honor him.

The latest plans include tanks rolling through DC streets, uniformed soldiers marching past the White House, and fighter jets screaming overhead to. It's a $100 MILLION+ project to stroke the ego of a fossil fueled fascist who fancies himself a king.

But here's the thing: This parade simply cannot happen without support and cooperation from DC officials.

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, alongside the DC Council, has the power to put up bureaucratic roadblocks at every turn, from requiring Trump's team to cover the costs of police, security overtime, and road repairs, to guarantees protestors won’t be arrested or brutalized.

It's all to say, there's a lot of leverage to stop Trump's tank party in its tracks. But to do it, DC officials and our organizing team need to be able to show that people across the country are opposed to this war parade — and that's where you come in.
