Today, we honor and remember those who gave everything in service to this country.

Memorial Day is a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by those in uniform — and it should also be a reminder of our obligation to those who serve and have served.

That means we need to commit to ensuring veterans aren’t left behind once they return home. It means fully funding the VA, protecting health care and job opportunities, and pushing back against efforts in Congress to cut critical resources for veterans.

I believe we need leaders in Congress who will fight for those who fought for us — not just on Memorial Day, but every single day.

To all who have served, and to the families who carry the memory of loved ones lost: thank you.
