John,
As we commemorate Memorial Day today, I am reminded of our nation's heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their bravery and selflessness are the reason we can enjoy the freedoms and opportunities we hold dear today. It’s important that we not only remember them today but also express our gratitude for their service, honoring their courage, commitment, and love for our country.
On Memorial Day, I honor the memory of my Grandfather, James Parker, who served proudly in the Navy. After dedicating years of his life defending our nation, he spent his retirement raising me with my grandmother. He taught me the importance of honor, courage, and commitment. He taught me to stand firm in what I believe in, even in the face of adversity, and his memory lives on in everything I do.

This Memorial Day — and every day — may we carry the memory of those who served in our hearts and always honor their courage and commitment.
Thank you,
Mayor Parker
