This Memorial Day let’s reflect on sacrifice—and renew our support for our veterans.
This Memorial Day we pause to honor the brave individuals who gave their lives in service to our country. As we reflect on their sacrifice, it’s also a time to renew our commitment to those who have returned home — our veterans — who deserve not just our gratitude but also our active support.
I grew up with the stories of service passed down from my grandparents, three of whom served in World War II. Two were pilots, and my grandmother proudly served in the Coast Guard. Their courage and dedication shaped my understanding of patriotism and continues to inspire me every single day.
Today far too many of our veterans are facing serious challenges when it comes to basic needs like housing, healthcare, employment, and food security. As a nation we owe them more than our remembrance — we owe them meaningful action that reflects the depth of their service.
I hope you’ll join me in honoring those we’ve lost by doing right by those who are still with us. That’s how we live up to the promise we’ve made to every American who wears the uniform.
Wishing you and your family a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
With appreciation,
Chris
