Dear JOhn,
Today, I’m taking the time to pause and honor the many men and women who fought for our nation and made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country.
Many of them were on the front lines of conflict, dedicating their lives to protecting and preserving our democracy. I’m not the first to say it, but the bravery of those who laid down their lives to protect our freedoms will never be forgotten.
Memorial Day is personal for many Virginians. Our state has one of the highest shares of veterans living here, and many in this district are just a short drive away from Arlington National Cemetery, the resting place of many of our nation’s heroes.
As you gather with your loved ones today, I hope you’ll join me in carrying forward the torch of service by remembering the American patriots who gave everything in the name of protecting our country.
