Friends,
Barack Obama has offered his deepest gratitude and his sincerest commendation to America’s peaceful protesters, saying, “You have communicated a sense of urgency that is as powerful and transformative as anything I have seen in recent years."
The progressive icon, speaking during a virtual town hall, also said he hopes young Americans find a way to “feel hopeful even as you may feel angry,” harkening back to the message of Obama’s past presidential campaigns.
But the 44th commander-in-chief ended his remarks with somewhat of a challenge, saying, “To bring about real change, we both have to highlight a problem and make people in power uncomfortable, but we also have to translate that into practical solutions and laws that can be implemented.” In other words? “Don’t boo, vote.”
We think it’s a good message -- and one the country sorely needs. But President Obama has garnered criticism for his outspokenness as an ex-president -- what do you think?
