The day Robert asked for my daughter’s hand in marriage was one of the proudest days of my life. I couldn’t have chosen a better man for my baby girl if I tried.
Even though we lost my daughter in 2020 after a long battle with breast cancer, Robert and I have remained close. He’s like a son to me and there’s nothing I won’t do for him.
That’s why I’m swallowing my pride and asking you, a perfect stranger, for help.
Let me tell you what happened so you can decide if you’ll join me in fighting for an innocent man…
Last September, Robert stopped to assist a vehicle that appeared to be broken down.
As he stepped out of his police car, a man walked right in front of Robert. But when Robert asked if he was with the disabled car, the man did not stop or even acknowledge him.
Then suddenly, the man pivoted to face Robert and stretched his right hand away from his body with a black object in his hand.
If you’ve spent any time around law enforcement officers, then you know they are trained to quickly assess a situation and take necessary action to defend themselves.
Robert didn’t know why this car was pulled to the side of the road -- nor did he know who was in it.
But he knew that traffic stops are one of the most dangerous situations for a cop to respond to -- so when this man appeared to pull a gun on him, Robert didn’t hesitate.
He fired one shot.
The bullet did not strike the man. Thank goodness, as Robert later discovered he was unarmed!
Why the man pulled out his cell phone and pointed it at my son-in-law, we may never know…
But the bottom line is no one was hurt.
Unfortunately, that didn’t stop the local prosecutor from swooping in and charging Robert with Attempted Murder.
It didn’t make any sense until we learned the prosecutor was backed by George Soros and she was campaigning for higher office on an anti-cop platform.
Surely prosecuting a decorated police officer would win over the radical base here in left-leaning Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Like I said at the beginning of my letter, it’s a political witch-hunt.
Robert’s trial is scheduled for September 2025. He faces up to 30 years in prison.
My son-in-law has already lost so much. I can’t sit idly by and watch a radical prosecutor steal his career away from him, too.
That’s why I’m humbly asking you to make a donation to help pay for Robert’s legal defense.
I’m going to be blunt.
The attorneys anticipate it’ll cost over $150,000 to get through the trial.
Robert just doesn’t have that kind of money.
It was difficult enough to pay the medical bills following my daughter’s four-year battle with cancer on a police officer’s salary.
I’ve helped as much as I can, and I was starting to worry when we got a call from a local man named Jason Johnson.
It turns out Jason is a retired Prince George’s County Police Officer. And now he runs the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF).
It was truly an answer to a prayer.
For over thirty years, the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) has provided legal defenses to wrongly accused police officers like Robert.
They pay for attorneys’ fees, expert witnesses, investigators, other court costs, and more.
LELDF has successfully helped hundreds of officers clear their names and win back their freedom. And now they’re helping Robert mount the defense he deserves.
But they can’t do it alone.
That’s why I’m praying you’ll find it in your heart to help LELDF fight for Robert.
It may not seem like your gift of $35, $50, or even $100 will make a difference with that huge of a sum.
But when combined with donations from thousands of other folks who are moved by our story, LELDF will be able to raise the resources to pay for Robert’s case.
Will you please help fight for Robert by donating $35, $50, $100, or more to LELDF today?
LELDF is a non-profit organization which means your gift today is tax-deductible.
And you can rest assured your gift will be put to immediate use helping Robert and other wrongly accused officers win in court and move on with their lives as free men.
Frankly, I was shocked to learn LELDF is supporting several officers who are also being railroaded by Soros-backed anti-cop prosecutors. It’s unconscionable!
As a father, I wish more than anything that I could snap my fingers and make this all go away for Robert. But since I can’t, I’m doing what any father would do – I’m fighting for my son with all I’ve got.
So no matter what you’re able to give to LELDF today, please pray for Robert and our family. We really need some good news right now.
Thank you in advance for your generous support.
