Email from Buddy Carter This Memorial Day, we pause to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.     John, Today is not just a day off to spend time with family. It’s a day of solemn remembrance. On Memorial Day, we pause as a nation to honor the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who laid down their lives in defense of our freedom. They didn’t serve for glory or recognition, they served for something greater: their country, their families, and the future of the United States of America. As the son of a veteran and a proud representative of thousands of military families in Georgia’s First District, I know the sacrifice that service demands. And I know freedom is never free. Every flag flown, every head bowed, every moment of silence is a small token of the gratitude we owe those who gave everything. But the greatest way we can honor them is to live lives worthy of their sacrifice and to fight for the values they died to protect: faith, family, freedom, and country. Let us never forget the cost of liberty and let us never fail to stand up for the America they gave their lives defending.
