On May 24, 2022, 19 kids and two teachers were senselessly murdered at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde—a tragedy felt by the entire country. There are no words or sentiments that will ever heal this kind of pain and heartbreak.
The love we have for our kids is our strongest force—nothing is more important than their safety. While a lot of progress has been made to safeguard our classrooms through mental health and school violence and prevention programs, we can and must do more.

This week, Congressman Jared Moskowitz and I relaunched our Bipartisan School Safety and Security Caucus. Together, we work with educators, law enforcement personnel, school safety experts, and parents to foster safer classrooms for children across the country.
Congress cannot sit on the sidelines as our kids, teachers, parents, and grandparents live in fear. Only through united action can we create real, lasting changes.

This week, I voted YES on the House reconciliation package.
After four years of failed national security and economic policies, we’re finally putting America back on the right track.
This legislation delivers big wins for our state, including funding to reimburse states, like Texas, for footing the bill for border security costs.
| |
As a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, I helped craft the strong border security provisions in the bill, including funding for checkpoint upgrades, new technology and infrastructure, Operation Stonegarden law enforcement grants, and bonuses for our Border Patrol Agents.
This is a big step forward for our district, state, and nation.
| | The moments following a survivor’s assault are deeply vulnerable. Care and compassion must be at the forefront of those who support and work with survivors of sexual abuse. | |
This week, I voted for Congresswoman Young Kim's Improving VA Training for Military Sexual Trauma Claims Act.
By requiring annual sensitivity training for VA staff handling these claims and improving how evidence is gathered, this bill helps to ensure better outcomes for survivors of sexual trauma.
Let’s make sure our veterans are treated with the dignity, compassion, and respect they deserve.
