Friend, The courts are supposed to be independent. But right now, the security of our judges is under the control of the very people attacking them. And responsibility for enforcing court orders, including those that attempt to reign in unlawful actions by the administration is under the control of the administration’s Department of Justice. That is not just dangerous. It threatens the balance of power. President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi have spent months vilifying judges who rule against them. They have threatened impeachment, ignored Supreme Court orders, and turned federal law enforcement into a political weapon. Even worse, judges and their families have faced escalating threats from some of Trump’s supporters, from targeted harassment to deadly violence. Yet the U.S. Marshals Service, the agency charged with protecting our judiciary and enforcing court orders still answers to Trump’s Justice Department, not the courts. It is a crisis in the making.
