This afternoon, I write to share with you my endorsement of Takis Karantonis in the July 7th Special Election and to tell you why this election is so important for Arlington's future and the ideas that led me to run for the Board.

Here's what I said last week when I endorsed Takis:

“I support Takis wholeheartedly because he is the experienced, committed leader our community needs right now. At this extraordinarily difficult moment, Arlington County must focus on our fundamental responsibilities—health, hunger, housing, and economic recovery. Takis knows these issues firsthand and I know he will make thoughtful, forward-looking decisions that benefit all of Arlington in the critical months ahead.”

Does that sound like our shared ideals? Absolutely, it does. And that is why I am 100% in for Takis and I need you to be with me for the next 22 days. He needs your vote--absentee before election day; your phone calls; and your financial support if you can help in this very difficult time.
Takis Karantonis
Takis was a key advisor when I ran for the Board in 2018. His knowledge of local policy as an economist and former director of the Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization is excellent. He has been on the Board of Eco Action Arlington and the Alliance for Housing Solutions. He is hard working, smart, and progressive.

If you believe in a more just Arlington and progress on racial equity, Takis needs to be on the Board. If you believe in the priorities that led you to support my service on the Board, Takis is critical: on equitable economic growth, affordable housing, 100% renewable electricity by 2035, eliminating child hunger by 2022, and funding the schools we need to build to educate every child well, he will be a big help.

Please join me--this is the most important election in our community before 2022 for Arlington's future. (The Presidential election is national and if Takis wins this year, 2021 will be much easier as there will be higher turnout.)
