Revak Report

Dear Friends,

My office continues to receive updates on new programs and additional information for existing programs.  This week I learned of a new program from Alaska Housing Finance and have included that information and link to the on-line application process in this e-newsletter.  In addition, I have been working with the Department of Community, Commerce and Economic Development on eligibility issues for the CARES Act funding and hope for a resolution soon.

My office continues to field telephone calls and emails from constituents requiring assistance with State Agencies.  If you need assistance please contact me and I will be more than happy to help.

I'm honored to serve and represent Senate District M.  Please email me, call my office at 907-465-3879, or visit us anytime to share you thoughts and concerns.

Blessings,

Alaska Housing Finance Offers COVID-19 Relief

Alaska Housing Relief offers one-time mortgage and rent relief up to $1,200; apply online before midnight on June 26, 2020.

If you or someone you know has lost income because of COVID-19 (the novel coronavirus), Governor Mike Dunleavy and the Alaska legislature selected Alaska Housing Finance Corporation to offer one-time financial relief for renters and homeowners. AlaskaHousingRelief.org has information to help determine eligibility.

AHFC will begin accepting applications at AlaskaHousingRelief.org starting the morning of Monday, June 15. The deadline to apply is 11:59  p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020.

Following the closure of the application date, AHFC will randomly lottery all names. Those at the top of the lottery will be contacted by AHFC to seek verification of economic hardship that occurred as a result of COVID-19, proof of monthly rent or payments that go toward principal and interest, and contact information for the landlord or lender so payment can be made on the applicants’ behalf.

AHFC intends to notice all applicants of their standing in the lottery at the end of June, with payments distributed to landlords and lenders in July. When a landlord or lender receives payment from AHFC a receipt will be provided to the successful applicant.

State of Alaska AKCARES Act Grant Funding

I have heard from many constituents regarding the AIDEA eligibility requirements and have been in contact with the Department of Community, Commerce and Economic Development.  The Department of Law and Legislative Legal have been working on solutions to allow small businesses that received federal Payroll Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) funds to be eligible for the CARES Act funds as well.

The Department of Community, Commerce and Economic Development (DCCED) and the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) in conjunction with Credit Union 1 are working to distribute $290 million in AKCARES grants to small businesses and non-profit organizations impacted by COVID-19. The applications will be available next week and will be provided on the DCCED, AIDEA, and Credit Union 1 websites.

Application period is scheduled to begin on May 26th and funds will be awarded first come, first serve.

For additional information DCCED has provided an informational sheet, application package checklist and program frequently asked questions FAQs.  Many details are still being worked out and websites will be updated as details become available.
