The AG is keeping up the fight to stop Trump’s illegal and erratic tariffs from hurting consumers and businesses in our state.
As President Trump continues his chaotic tariff war, sending shockwaves through businesses all over the world, Rob met with California business leaders in the Bay Area yesterday to discuss the negative impacts these tariffs could have on our state’s economy, working families, and businesses.
You may remember that Rob sued the Trump administration last month to stop its illegal and erratic tariffs. If allowed, these tariffs will wreak havoc on the U.S. financial system and cause widespread harm, especially to California’s economy, which is now the fourth-largest economy in the world.
The tariffs challenged under Rob’s lawsuit are currently projected to:
- Shrink the U.S. economy by $178 billion;
- Cost California consumers $25 billion;
- Result in the loss of over 64,000 jobs throughout California.
That’s why the AG made it a priority to hear directly from leaders on the front lines concerned about the disastrous impact of tariffs on their industries and businesses.
These folks are the bellwethers for our state and have sounded the alarm, and as Rob told them, California will continue to fight on all fronts to end President Trump's illegal tariffs and restore certainty and vibrancy to our economy.
