The lives of hundreds of thousands of undocumented people, like me, changed when the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program began to accept applications 8 years ago on this day.

Since then, far-right extremists, fueled by a President and administration who have perpetuated white supremacy and racism every day since they’ve assumed office, have fought hard to overturn the program that protects many of us from the threat of deportation.

Although the Supreme Court didn’t hand down a decision on DACA today, they could at any time this month. No matter what the decision is, we will remain steadfast in our advocacy for the rights and lives of undocumented people and immigrants.

The DACA decision from SCOTUS coupled with a critical election year in the fight against white supremacy means this is an important moment for our community. The next few months will ask that we are ready to mobilize, organize, and advocate for our community with little to no warning, so we must do everything we can right now if we want to be prepared.
