Not long ago I sent an email asking you what issues matter most to you. High on that list was healthcare. As I’ve traveled across the state, doing my What’s Up Wednesday coffees, I’ve been hearing story after story of folks struggling with the healthcare system. But I want to know, what’s your story?

Everyone has a story because our healthcare system is broken. When I was pregnant with my second child, Sean, I stayed up at night worried that any complication would have meant bankruptcy for my family.

No family should have to worry about situations like this.

Alaska pays the highest costs per capita for healthcare. So, when Donald Trump promised he would expand healthcare access for everyone, Alaskans believed him. Unfortunately, since he took office, all he’s done is try to take away basic coverage for people with pre-existing conditions - that’s roughly 25% of Americans!

Meanwhile, what has Don Young been doing?

Don Young voted for the bill that would have allowed insurance companies to charge people with pre-existing conditions more.

In Alaska, we don’t care whether you’re red or blue. We care if you get things done. And Don Young hasn’t gotten it done on healthcare.

We need someone in Congress who is a doer and will get things done to fix our broken healthcare system. That’s why I’m running for Congress. I don’t want Alaskans to be worried about having to choose between food on the table or getting medical treatment. I am the doer who will get it done.
