John,
Big Tech companies have knowingly endangered children to deepen their pockets.
One example: Meta is in a rush to get AI “digital companions” popularized on their platforms. However, these bots have the capacity for sexually explicit conversations, and have reportedly done so with underage users — even after users identified themselves as being underage. [1]
And this isn’t just some one-off issue — there’s been story after story where profits are put before children’s safety. But Issue One stands at the ready to put a stop to it.
The bipartisan Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) will solve this problem, and put our kids BEFORE Big Tech’s ad revenue. And last Congress, we got it closer to final passage than ever before. [2]
Now, we have a real shot of passing it for good this year, and we’re ready to pull out all the stops to ensure members of Congress know we’re looking to them to keep our kids safe online. Will you add your name today and show our elected leaders that Americans want them to help create a healthier online environment for kids?
Big Tech must stop moving fast and breaking things — especially when it comes to the mental health and well-being of our children.
Chasing profit at all costs, they’ve deliberately designed their products to be addictive and dangerous — and young people are paying the price, experiencing dramatically higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation.
Children are our future, and it’s time we put them first.
It’s time for Congress to step up, do the right thing, and pass KOSA this year. Add your name and show Congress that we want them to pass this important legislation.
Together we can make this happen, The Issue One Team
