Friend, this time of year, parents all across the country are supposed to be celebrating their kids — the end of another school year, the milestones they’ve hit, and the people they’re becoming.

But for parents like me — and the families in Uvalde — this season is different.

Today, my daughter Jaime should have just graduated college. Pursue her dreams as a pediatric therapist. Plan for a bright and fruitful future. But instead, she was gunned down in her high school hallway and killed with a military-style assault rifle at just 14 years old.
