Memorial Weekend is the unofficial start of summer and the official opening for some of our sites!
The *Sinks Canyon* visitor center opens today through Labor Day, seven days a week from 9:00-6:00. Stop to ask about trails, pick up some merch, and see the ferrets.
*South Pass City* is open today and tours of the Carissa and English Tunnel start in June. Reservations for the tours are encouraged and can be made here [ [link removed] ].
*Seminoe State Park* is open for the season! Come camp with us [ [link removed] ] or catch us at BioBlitz or our Leave No Trace [ [link removed] ] Trainer course in June.
*Bear River's* visitor center, dump station, and bathrooms are open for the season and there are bison calves on the ground! Visit the park for a leisurely stroll to see the bison and elk, stop in the visitor center, or take the trails from the park for a big biking adventure.
*Fort Bridger State Historic Site* is open for the year. The buildings host artifacts, the museum is full of displays, and the grounds are great to walk around and think of all the history that has happened right there. In June, July, and August there are weekly demonstrations Saturdays at 2:00 and tours Wednesdays at 2:00 included in admission with the topics/locations changing each month.

We have fee-free days throughout the year for veterans, free fishing day, national public lands day and more. Check out this calendar of days when day-use fees are waived!
Monday, Memorial Day, is a day-use fee free day for veterans and active duty military.
June 7th is free fishing day! Wyoming Game and Fish Department waives fishing license fees for the day and our sites that offer great fishing waive their day-use fees. These include: Boysen, Buffalo Bill, Curt Gowdy, Edness Kimball Wilkins, Fort Phil Kearny, Glendo, Guernsey, Keyhole, Seminoe, Hawk Springs, and Wyoming Territorial Prison.

Many of our sites have gift shops including Bear River, Fort Bridger, Sinks Canyon, and South Pass City. Stop in for Wyoming t-shirts, mugs, and other merchandise. You might even be surprised to see Wyoming-roasted coffee from Snake River Roasting and Mr. Joe's hot sauce produced in Green River! The American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration, in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association has announced Wyoming State Parks and Cultural Resources as the recipient of a Finalist Award in the 2025 National Gold Medal Award Program for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management!
State Parks are eligible for this award every other year and we are pleased to have been finalists in 2023 and again this cycle.

Congratulations to Shoshone District Manager Kyle Bernis on being named the National Association for Interpretation Heartland Region's Distinguished Interpretive Manager and to Big Horn District Interpretive Ranger for being named the Outstanding New Interpreter!
These deserving professionals were presented with these awards at a recent NAI conference where Kyle, District Ranger Angelina, and Sinks Canyon Superintendent Jessica Moore presented.

We had a great Wyoming Wildflower Women's Day in Thermopolis at the Dinosaur Museum and Hot Springs State Park! The museum hosted us with fabulous tour guides and the park showed off with a spiny softshell turtle we saw from the bridge and killdeer chicks.

This is great for those who spend time outdoors, lead scout troops, take others on hikes, or just those interested in outdoor ethics. Five people look at microscopes on a table outside. Do you teach some outdoor education or want to - whether in the classroom or in nature? We are teaming up with Audubon Rockies to teach Project Learning Tree, Project Wet, and Project Wild June 10-11 at Buffalo Bill State Park! Earn PTSB credit or just gain new outdoor education curriculum in a fun outdoor classroom. We'll be camping, playing, and learning. We have a few spots [ [link removed] ] left. ferret programs weekly at 1:00 Friends of Bear River state parks programs Friends of Bear River State Park is bringing in the Ogden Nature Center for a series of programs this summer! Join them - and live animals - for these free programs. TRAIL TALES every other Tuesday at Bear River Bear River State Park staff and volunteers will be guiding hikes every other Tuesday this summer! Join for a variety of programs, trails, and lengths. More information can be found on their Facebook page [ [link removed] ]. BRSP trail tales orienteering course Bear River State Park will be offering an orienteering course on June 21st from 10:00-1:00. This program teaches attendees the mechanics of navigating with a compass, as well as introducing them to the sport of orienteering. Target audience is people ages 8+. This is a program that all ages can enjoy.

What Ranger Angelina is most excited for - pixel art wyoming bioblitz We are excited to host the annual BioBlitz this year at Seminoe State Park together with many friends including Audubon Rockies and UW's Biodiversity Institute.
This annual survey brings together expert scientists and citizen scientists to document the living things in a place - and learn all about the organisms and survey methods along the way.
