This Week in D.C.
Why I voted NO: Standing Up for Working Families
This week, House Republicans voted to pass the largest cut to SNAP and Medicaid in American history, stripping food assistance and health care from the very people they were elected to serve.
Let me be clear: these programs are lifelines for millions of working families—the same folks Republicans were elected to represent.
I voted NO because this bill would strip health care from 14 million Americans—including nearly 130,000 people in TX-30 who rely on Medicaid. This bill would also rip food from the tables of at least 3 million Americans, including 115,000 folks in TX-30 who rely on SNAP to feed their families.
This isn’t about fiscal responsibility. It’s about taking from the folks who have the least to give more to those who already have the most.
The folks that sent us here deserve leaders who fight for them, not against them.
I joined the Democratic Women's Caucus to talk about how these cuts will be detrimental to women and children.

While ICE Runs Wild, Trump’s DOJ Targets Congress
This week during my opening remarks at the Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight, I reminded folks that the Justice Department choosing to file charges against my colleague Rep. LaMonica McIver isn’t about justice, it’s retaliation.
I laid out how the real lawlessness is coming from those in power; and I exposed the GOP’s political theater, their silence on abuse, and their obsession with protecting Trump at any cost.

“Political Theater or Progress?” Rep. Jasmine Crockett Calls Out the GOP’s ICE Agenda
Y'all know I like to keep it real, so during the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight hearing, I played a game of “Political Theater or Progress?”
From revoking birthright citizenship to bashing car windows and deporting U.S. citizens, I called out how the Trump administration and GOP allies are using ICE as a tool for fear and distraction. While Republicans push bonuses for ICE agents, they’re also gutting healthcare, slashing food assistance, and undercutting federal workers. I made it plain and simple: America has real problems—political stunts won't solve them.

The Constitution Isn’t That Complicated… Unless You’re the GOP
During a Judiciary Committee markup, I had to remind the Republicans of the basics of the Constitution—quoting directly from a 2025 Supreme Court ruling (yes, Trump’s court) to remind them that the Fifth Amendment guarantees due process, even for immigrants.

Standing Up for Veterans
This week, I called on the Inspector General of the Department of Veterans Affairs to investigate how the staffing cuts mandated by the Trump Administration are negatively impacting veteran care at the Dallas VA Medical Center. In a formal letter, I raised concerns over the Department of Veterans Affairs Agency Reduction in Force and Reorganization Plan (ARRP), which stems from an executive order signed by President Trump. VA’s ARRP, magnified by the initial hiring freeze and subsequent terminations of probationary employees, has reportedly delayed veterans’ access to critical surgeries, mental health services, and more.

This Week in TX-30
This week, our office joined the community at the grand opening of Crossroads Nutrition Pharmacy at The Shops at RedBird. We had the honor of presenting a congressional letter to recognize this exciting milestone and to celebrate the pharmacy’s mission to promote health and nutritional access in South Dallas.
Crossroads Nutrition Pharmacy is more than just a place to fill prescriptions, it’s a community-centered resource focused on improving access to nutrition-based care and wellness services in South Dallas. We look forward to seeing the impact they’ll continue to make.
