This week, you might have heard Trump referring to a bill as “Big” and “Beautiful.” But what is it really? A big bailout for billionaires.
Listen y’all, House Republicans have passed the Billionaire Bailout Budget bill that has the biggest cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in HISTORY.
Knowing their bill was awful for working families, Republicans did all of this in the dead of night and didn’t think that House Democrats would show up to shed light. They were wrong.
Republicans advanced cuts to healthcare for 14 million people through Medicaid reductions and slashed over $300 billion from SNAP, depriving hungry children, seniors, and veterans of essential food assistance.
You all are more than line items on a budget; you are real people working to survive, especially right now with skyrocketing grocery prices. It’s clear that Republicans fail to understand that people need support, not policies that make their lives harder.
I joined my colleagues in the House Democratic Caucus late into the night at the Capitol. What’s done in the dark must come to the light and I’m here to shed light.
After keeping watch all night, I went before the Rules Committee and offered 16 amendments to the Billionaire Bailout Budget Bill. These amendments sought to strengthen SNAP and Medicaid, ensuring the most marginalized in our community have access to necessary healthcare and food. Watch my full Rules Committee testimony
