The 2025 regular legislative session is over. It continues to be my humble privilege serving and representing the values and priorities of our great community with Rep. Walter Hudson and Rep. Paul Novotny!

Dear friends and neighbors,
As we enter Memorial Day weekend, we remember, honor, and mourn all those who sacrificed their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Each year on Memorial Day morning, the Elk River Legion Honor Guard and Color Guard perform gun salutes at Nowthen, Elk River, and Otsego cemeteries, and the Saint Michael Legion Honor Guard and Color Guard perform gun salutes at Albertville, Saint Michael, and Hanover cemeteries. I look forward to visiting each cemetery every year to observe the ceremonies for the fallen.

End of 2025 Regular Session
|
What happened: The 2025 regular session of the Minnesota Legislature officially adjourned before midnight on Monday evening. Although the session has ended, the work continues. Due to a deliberate and unprecedented delay by House Democrats refusing to show up for the first three weeks of session, we lost valuable time that should have been spent addressing critical issues and finishing all work by the deadline. The obstructionist move resulted in being short on time as the constitutional deadline of May 19 approached. As it stands, nine key budget bills remain unfinished.
Why it matters: The Minnesota Constitution mandates a new state budget be passed this year. If not passed by July 1, portions of state government will shutdown potentially disrupting schools, public safety, transportation, and more—something no Minnesotan wants to see. Republicans were ready from Day One, prepared to work across the aisle to finalize a budget that works for everyone. But instead of joining us at the table, House Democrats chose political gamesmanship over governance.
When Democrats finally returned to work after their staged walkout from losing the majority, the obstruction didn’t stop—it just took on a new form: pushing an extreme and unsustainable agenda. Case in point: in 2023, Democrats enacted a policy to give taxpayer-funded health care to illegal immigrants. That program went live in January this year, and enrollment exploded far beyond the projections Democrats initially gave us—raising serious concerns about costs, accountability, and transparency.
Meanwhile, Minnesota is now facing a staggering $6 billion budget deficit—entirely the result of the Democrats’ reckless spending over the past two years of one-party control. Instead of presenting serious solutions, Democrats latest scheme is to dump these costs onto county governments and driving property taxes even higher—essentially pushing the burden onto hardworking families at the local level while allowing the state to sidestep responsibility. It’s a classic bait-and-switch, designed to make it look like Democrats are balancing the books, when in reality, Democrats are just attempting to pass the buck.
What happens next: It is expected Gov. Walz will call a special session soon so we can finish the job Minnesotans sent us here to do. But the road ahead won’t be easy. After two years of total control, Democrats have grown accustomed to steamrolling any opposition and getting everything they want without compromise. Ever since balance has been restored, Democrats are struggling to work in a shared-governance environment. Republicans remain committed to passing a responsible budget that respects taxpayers and strengthens our communities—but it will take real cooperation from Democrats, not more political theater.

The state continues to wastefully spend money to non-profits who - in this case - spend $432,000 for its CEO's salary

Professional men and women in law enforcement work hard to keep us safe while Gov. Tim Walz says they are Nazi Germany.

Yet another female athlete robbed of the first place she deserves. In other news, lawsuit filed against Keith Ellison for continuing the injustice of girls being denied their rightful victories.

Technology, mining, and more, Democrats and Gov. Tim Walz are turning Minnesota into a sinkhole stopping new businesses from coming and causing current businesses to relocate out.

Each and every day I’m continuously humbled at the opportunity to represent and fight for the values and priorities of our great community!
