Email from Rep. Salazar As always it is an honor representing you and your family in Washington, D.C. FL-27 Newsletter Vol. 119, Issue #10 Dear Friends/Amigos, (Washington, D.C.) – This week, I’ve been hard at work in our nation’s capital, fighting for the values and priorities of the people of Florida’s 27th District. Every vote I cast and every conversation I have in Washington is guided by what I hear from you. Your voice matters. Whether it's about a local issue or a national concern, staying connected helps me better represent you. Follow along on Facebook, Instagram, and X for updates from Capitol Hill and from across our district. And if you'd like to reach out directly, don't hesitate to call or write to my D.C. office at (202) 225-3931 or visit Salazar.House.Gov. Sincerely/Atentamente, María E. Salazar U.S. Representative (FL-27) TAKE IT DOWN ACT OFFICIALLY SIGNED INTO LAW BY PRESIDENT TRUMP My bill, the TAKE IT DOWN Act was signed into law! I led the charge in the House, reintroducing the bill in January 2025. First Lady Melania Trump played a pivotal role in elevating the issue, hosting a high-profile roundtable on Capitol Hill and mobilizing bipartisan support. The law was passed unanimously in the Senate in February 2025 and received final approval in the House soon after. The signing of my TAKE IT DOWN Act is a historic moment in our fight to protect children online. I’m grateful to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for standing with us against the growing threat of online exploitation and AI abuse. For the first time, victims have real legal protection, and parents have a powerful tool to fight back and protect their children from digital threats. Predators will finally face the full force of the law. You can learn more about this passing of the bill here. The Big Beautiful Bill Passes the House of Representatives You sent me to Washington to get results, and yesterday, we delivered. I’m proud to report that we put YOU first with a powerful new bill that puts money back in your pocket, cuts waste, and secures our future. Here’s what’s inside: 1. LOWER TAXES We’re making sure you keep more of every paycheck: Tax breaks for seniors No tax on tips No tax on overtime From abuelita on Calle Ocho to small business owners in Key Biscayne—we're cutting taxes across the board to help Miami families thrive. 2. ENDING WASTE, FRAUD & ABUSE Billions in wasteful spending? Gone. We’re cutting woke bureaucracy, rooting out fraud, and making sure your money stays with you—not Washington. 3. BIGGER CHILD TAX CREDIT We’re raising the Child Tax Credit to $3,500 per child, more relief for hardworking families who need it most. 4. ANTI-FRAUD, PRO-WORK REFORM We’re enacting the boldest welfare reform in American history, one that will reward work, stop abuse, and supports those who truly in need help. 5. SECURING OUR BORDER In just 100 days, we've made real progress restoring control at the border. This bill locks in that momentum and makes our communities safer. When America thrives, so does FL-27. Meeting with Miami's leaders I had the pleasure of meeting Miami's leaders on Capitol Hill! It was an honor to welcome a powerhouse group of Miami’s civic voices—both elected officials and community leaders—right here in Washington, D.C. Together, we had meaningful conversations about the challenges our city faces, and the bold solutions needed to keep Miami moving forward. From expanding access to affordable housing, to modernizing transit systems that actually meet the needs of our growing population, to advancing commonsense immigration reform that reflects both our values and our economic priorities—we covered a lot of ground. Miami’s future is bright, and I’m committed to working across all levels of government to turn ideas into action. Let’s get to work and deliver real results for our community! Meeting with our Mexican Allies This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Esteban Moctezuma Barragán and a delegation of Mexican senators to discuss the enduring friendship between the United States and Mexico. As neighbors, we share more than just a border—we share a commitment to cooperation, prosperity, and mutual respect. Together, we explored new opportunities to strengthen our bilateral relationship for the benefit of both nations. In the Media: I discussed canceling Chevron’s licenses in Venezuela with Carla Angola. This week, I spoke with Carla Angola and explained why the Trump Administration must let Chevron’s oil license in Venezuela expire. It’s critical that we stop financing Maduro’s repressive regime. Just one day later, the State Department announced the licenses would not be renewed. President Trump kept his word—we don’t sell our democratic principles. During the interview, I also shared that I will be asking the Trump Administration to grant Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) to Venezuelans whose TPS is expiring. Not every Venezuelan is part of Tren de Aragua—we must ensure that innocent people are not sent back into Maduro’s claws. Click here or on the image above to watch my full interview.
