On Thursday night, Republicans brought their extreme budget to the House Floor under the cover of darkness. My Democratic colleagues and I debated this bill through the night and stood united in our opposition until after dawn.

Ultimately, the bill passed by one vote. 215 Republicans supporting and 214 Democrats opposing. That’s 215 Republicans who voted for:
* Adding $3.8 trillion to America’s already ballooning national debt
* Ripping critical health care away from 13.7 million Americans with the largest Medicaid cut in American history
* Taking school lunches away from 18 million school children while increasing prices for American families

Even moderate Republicans in vulnerable swing seats - who signed a letter ([link removed]) saying they wouldn't cut Medicaid - caved to Donald Trump’s pressure and supported this cruel legislation.

Trump promised to lower prices when he got into office. But his policies are making life worse for working families and seniors. Trump’s tariffs are already raising prices on basic household goods. Now, his tax plan will make healthcare and groceries more expensive by slashing funding for Medicaid and food assistance. All so they can give massive tax breaks to the ultra wealthy.

The party that once stood for fiscal responsibility has abandoned their values and abandoned the American people. It is a one-two punch that will make life worse for working class communities across the nation.
