STOP THE MONEY PIPELINE ~
I wanted to make sure you saw our email last week. Part 2 in our Workshop series "Immigration Justice Must Be a Climate Fight, Too" is coming up one week from today, Wednesday, May 28th, at 7:00 PM ET / 4:00 PM PT.
The same communities being criminalized and displaced by immigration crackdowns are often on the frontlines of the climate crisis — working in agriculture and construction, usually without protections. We cannot build a just and livable future while families are being torn apart and workers are living in fear. Our vision for climate justice includes freedom to move, freedom to stay, and the right to thrive — no matter where we come from.
Our movement is united in protecting the human right to migration and is committed to ensuring all people have access to a livable planet and the resources to thrive in our changing world.
Sign up for Part 2 of Immigration Justice Must Be a Climate Fight, Too.
This series's third and final installment will be available in late June—keep an eye out for details!

Join us for a Mass Virtual Training on May 28th: Utility Justice 101!
We're putting on this training with the 350 Network Council, Third Act, and special guest Bill McKibben to reach people across the country who want to learn more about our current energy system and how they can fight back against monopoly utilities!
From 5-6 pm PT, we'll be tackling questions like:
-How do electric & gas utilities work?
-Why are my bills so expensive?
-Why do utility companies have so much power and so little accountability?
-How can we fight back and achieve utility justice?
Then, from 6-6:30 p.m., we'll hold regional breakout rooms and connect with others in our area who want to join the campaign for Energy Equity here in Northern California! Show up and represent! This is a great space to invite your friends, family, and neighbors who are concerned about their utility but aren't sure what they can do themselves.
THIRD ACT ~
We’re trying not to send you panicked emails every 48 hours about the latest nuttiness in Washington, but today is one of the crux moments of the fight for the future.
Last night, by a single vote, the House passed the horrifying budget bill urged on them by the president. Besides gutting social programs and endangering Americans in countless ways, this bill amounts to a full repeal of the IRA, which we all worked so hard to pass in Congress. It will make the fight for solar, wind, and batteries harder; it will postpone the day when Americans can get electric vehicles and heat pumps easily and affordably—and in the race to stop climate chaos, delays mean irrevocable loss.
But the fight isn’t over—this House bill must still be reconciled by a companion draft that moves through the Senate, and we urgently need your help to call and make a special appeal to your Senators, whether or not they are a Democrat or Republican.
This is a tough fight, but we need to do what we can to preserve as much as possible of the society we’ve built over the course of our lives. Thank you for taking this on instead of just pulling the covers over your head and staying in bed, no matter how tempting!
Call your Senators to protect the IRA consumer climate provisions under threat
Fill out this form from our partner Solar United Neighbors and it will automatically call your phone and connect you directly to your Senators’ offices in Washington DC, so that you can speak with a staffer or leave this message: Preserve the IRA consumer tax credits and other clean energy provisions in budget reconciliation.
Call Your Senator
If you’re in a red state, know that many Republican leaders object to the House bill’s sledgehammer approach to the IRA repeal. They know that developing clean energy is crucial for the U.S. to become energy dominant, and everyone knows that the IRA’s billions of dollars in tax credits have benefited mainly GOP-controlled districts. We recommend a message from you that demands they use their power in reconciliation to preserve them.
If you’re in a blue state, ask your Senator to hold the line and oppose this entire budget bill. All Democratic Senators have said that they support the IRA—here are just a few reasons why they need to continue defending it:
The consumer IRA tax credits eliminated in this budget drive consumer spending that supports 240,000 jobs—from those who install clean energy technology in our homes to those who manufacture it and the local economies they fuel.
The clean energy incentives at play here allow Americans to unlock thousands of dollars in annual savings on their energy bills while supporting a more stable and resilient grid amid rising energy demand. Killing these tax credits will raise energy prices and take money out of the pockets of working families.

You've probably seen the not-so-shocking news that Big Oil is asking Congress to give them blanket immunity from climate liability while Trump is in power, taking a page out of the gun manufacturers' playbook. Dirty energy CEOs met with Trump behind closed doors, asking for total protection from any efforts by cities and states to hold them accountable for their climate crimes.
Climate-fueled disasters like floods, fires, hurricanes, and heat waves are on the rise, uprooting lives and livelihoods and costing states and taxpayers billions of dollars. That's why a growing number of cities and states are filing lawsuits or passing new legislation that would make the fossil fuel industry pay its fair share for climate damages. The fossil fuel industry is turning to its friends in Congress, demanding a “liability waiver,” which is a “get out of jail free” card.
Sign the petition: Tell Congress to oppose this Big Oil bailout.
States and municipalities across the U.S. have filed lawsuits to hold major oil and gas companies accountable for deceiving the public about the climate crisis and their outsized role in causing it. And some states are beginning to pass legislation modeled after the federal Superfund program to hold these companies financially accountable for climate damages to the state. Vermont and New York have enacted these bills into law, and nearly a dozen other states have introduced similar legislation.
Major oil and gas companies don't like this and will do everything they can to protect their bottom lines. Oil companies even encouraged the Department of Justice to file briefs on their behalf, or to sue states that have enacted Superfund laws directly. We can’t give this toxic industry any more free passes when our communities are burning, flooding, and being destroyed by climate change.
The fossil fuel industry has known for decades that their products drive climate change. But they lied to the public, lobbied against climate solutions, and continued on with business as usual. Big Oil continues to rake in record profits, doubling down on fossil fuel exploration and production while we all pay the price of their pollution.
It's time to make these polluters pay their fair share.

89% of people worldwide want more action to fight the climate crisis.1
That’s nearly 9 in 10 of us — across continents, cultures, and communities — united in the belief that our governments must do more.
But here’s the thing: most people don’t know this.
Instead, many stay quiet, trapped in a “spiral of silence” because they think they’re alone.2
This gap between people's beliefs and what they think others believe is a big barrier to action. But it’s also a massive opportunity.
By showing people they’re not alone, and that it’s normal to take action, we could help spark a tipping point.
The climate fight will be fought and won over many years, not one presidency. By building a powerful, united movement across our country and worldwide, we can position ourselves to push leaders to act on climate, redesign our energy system to run on clean energy, and protect all our futures.
So what can you do? Here are three things you can do to make it happen.
1. Go and talk about it! Having conversations about the fact that you want our leaders to do more really works. It builds momentum, breaks the silence, and makes people feel less alone. To help you along, we’ve put together science-backed tips to help make those conversations easier:
2. Build the movement of people taking action. Invite your friends and family to join our movement by sharing the Climate Pledge. It gives people simple, practical actions they can take and calls on world leaders to step up, too. 3. Share hope! There are so many examples of the change we need already happening every day. From heat pumps in Canada to the complete transformation of Uruguay’s energy system to renewable energy cooperatives in Spain, change is already underway.
It’s been a tough start to 2025. Climate denial, disinformation, and the rise of politicians who attack climate policies have made things harder.
But this new research shows we are not alone — far from it. We are the majority. And when enough of us raise our voices together, change becomes unstoppable.
Let’s make 2025 the year the silence breaks.
Onwards,
Katrina for 350.org
