Hey John,

Earlier this week, we announced our new campaign: End the Oligarchy, Save Our Future. We launch on June 18th, and in a moment I’m going to ask you to sign up to host a watch party (which could be as simple as you and your friend hopping on zoom).

But first, let me share a story.

I first learned about climate change in school. I learned that people had known about it since before I was born. But there’s one thing that I was never able to wrap my head around: why hadn’t we taken action long ago?

Over the last few years, I’ve learned the disappointing answer.

The fossil fuel industry made a calculated decision: buy out enough politicians at every level of government that they’d never face accountability. Now, we're living in the dream world of those oligarchs: our democracy is so corrupted that many people don’t believe change is possible anymore.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Throughout history, oligarchs have tried to dictate the way the rest of us live. They’ve called themselves king, emperor, dictator, billionaire. Rule by the few is always fragile because they are few and we are many. That’s why they spend so much of their time convincing us that we are weak, that those who believe the world can be better are naive dreamers.

We’re organizing a coalition of dreamers, one person at a time, until we are millions of young people ready to disrupt business as usual.

It begins June 18th. We’re unveiling our strategy and we need you in this fight with us.

That’s why we're organizing hundreds of watch parties on June 18th to kick off this campaign, and I’m writing to ask you to host one of them.

You’ll get a group of friends together and all tune into a powerful livestream with movement leaders where we’ll share our plan for the coming years and set you up to start organizing in your neighborhood or school.

Can you sign up to host a watch party? We'll get you materials to prepare and, because you’re stepping up, you'll get a sneak peak on our plans ahead of the call.

Let's do this.
