John,
The Trump administration has ordered the ATF to take down the Faces of Gun
Violence memorial, a tribute to 120 people killed by gun violence.
This memorial was created as a reminder of why this work matters: the real
people behind the statistics.
Among the photos taken down were of Ethan Song, a 15-year-old killed by an
unsecured gun at a neighbor’s house. Jaime Guttenberg, a high school
student murdered in the Parkland shooting. Robert Godwin Sr., a
grandfather shot while collecting cans on the street.

Their photos were placed in the exhibit to remind us of what’s at stake if
we fail to act — if gun laws continue to be weakened and this crisis is
ignored. Now, that reminder has been removed deliberately by the Trump
administration because those faces told a truth they didn’t want to see.
This isn’t happening in isolation. Trump has built his power by distorting
reality and spreading lies to his benefit. Erasing a memorial to victims
of gun violence is just one more way the Trump administration is trying to
rewrite the truth to serve their agenda.
But we see what’s happening, and we won’t stay silent. We’re going to keep
telling victims’ stories, and we’re going to keep fighting to make sure no
more families have to go through this.
