Team, Mad has been busy on the Appropriations Committee over the last few weeks, participating in hearings where she and other lawmakers got the chance to question Trump cabinet officials like RFK Jr. and FBI Director Kash Patel on their actions and policies.

She’s also been in Congress fighting back against the atrocious budget bill her colleagues across the aisle are advancing to cut Medicaid and fuel billionaire tax cuts.

We know there’s a lot going on, and it is hard to keep track of it all. To make it a bit easier for you, we organized a few media highlights on how Mad is using her seat on the Appropriations Committee and in Congress to demand accountability from Trump officials…
MAD QUESTIONS TRUMP OFFICIALS

Earlier this month, the Appropriations Committee held a hearing on the FBI’s budget, where Madeleine and FBI Director Patel got into a heated argument. Next up, the Appropriations Committee held a hearing on the HHS budget. Mad had absolutely no qualms in calling out RFK Jr. for cutting critical programs that have made a DIRECT impact on addiction treatment and lowering opioid deaths. Lastly, the Appropriations Committee held a hearing with Attorney General Pam Bondi.

ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL ACT

Dubbed by Trump as his “big, beautiful bill,” the GOP’s budget bill is a direct attack on the American people and a deeply unpopular (and frankly delusional) piece of legislation. * It decimates Medicaid funding (reports show it could leave an extra 8.6 million Americans uninsured ).
* Guts funding for SNAP benefits.
* Cuts all federal funding for Planned Parenthood, including for screening services for cancer and diseases.
* Repeals taxes on certain sales of guns.
* Allows increased leasing of public lands for drilling, mining, and logging.
As if all this wasn’t bad enough, House Republicans stalled this legislation last week because they claimed it needed MORE cuts to Medicaid and green energy — seriously.
This bill passed through committees earlier this week, and a battle on the House floor is coming up soon. Mad and her Democratic colleagues remain vehemently opposed to this abhorrent legislation and will vote NO. We’ll keep you updated as the vote shapes up. Read more about the legislation here.
