John,
The Trump administration and this Republican Congress have shown their true colors:
With this cruel spending bill, they’ve made clear that people and their basic needs are disposable.
As Controller, I saved our state more than $7.5 billion in real, unauthorized, and wasteful spending in California, while not costing seniors or kids a cent. There are plenty of ways to achieve savings without targeted cruelty or authoritarianism.
So I know what I’m talking about when I say there is nothing “beautiful” about this Trump spending bill. It’s just massive service cuts on critical lifelines like Medicaid, Medicare, and SNAP, all in the name of providing bigger tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy.
And left unaltered, it will amount to the largest transfer of wealth from the poorest many to the rich few in our history.
We can’t stay quiet or sit still while Trump and Republicans take food and healthcare away from our children and our seniors. We can’t turn away when these cuts will mean more people pushed out of the middle class and onto the street.
I am furious right now, and I know you are too. But anger is not enough. It’s going to take every one of us, together, to reverse this dangerous course that Trump is taking us on, and make things actually add up for everyone again.
If you’re fed up and ready for change, please consider using this link to donate to my campaign. With this type of warfare against working families, it’s crucial that our next Governor knows the ins and outs of our state budget and finances to protect them. I have that experience, and with your support I’ll do it again.
