Contact Your Senators to Urge Them to Move Quicker on Confirming Nominees

May 23, 2025

President Trump’s nominees for important government positions are not being confirmed in a timely manner. Although the Senate worked at record speed to confirm each of the President’s Cabinet members, they have since lost steam. It’s time for us to tell them to pick up the pace.

Nearly 80 nominees are currently in limbo on the Senate calendar. This includes Brian Burch, who was nominated as Ambassador to the Holy See. When Republicans tried to quickly confirm ([link removed]) him in light of the announcement of the new Pope, Democrats objected, and the Senate simply went home for the weekend.

Ambassadorships aren’t the only positions on the line. Others include Assistant Secretaries, Counsel, U.S. Attorneys, Commissioners, and Solicitors. Keep in mind, they have not placed the open federal judge vacancies on the calendar yet. If they allow this slow pace to continue, the list will only get longer, further stalling the President’s agenda.

Senators only need a simple majority of 51 votes to overcome Democrat opposition. We can urge them to move more nominees to the floor for a vote. To do this, they may need to work later hours and even on weekends if needed.

Please call or email your Senators to ask them to pick up the pace on nominees!
