Friend, a recent report from the U.N. says 1 in 5 people in Gaza — including thousands of babies and children — could starve without immediate, life-saving humanitarian relief. Here are three reasons your support is urgently needed:
1. Aid is stuck at the border. Just over 100 aid trucks entered Gaza this week, but the UN warns this is just a drop in the ocean compared to the overwhelming need. Families are still going hungry and have nothing to feed their babies.
2. Our clinics are treating more and more malnourished children. The number of children we treat for malnutrition has increased 300% since March. Parents are arriving with infants too weak to cry, and our clinics are struggling to help them amid suffocating supply shortages, the ongoing blockade on aid, and federal funding cuts.
3. Up to 42% of pregnant and 34%of lactating women are malnourished. For those who have yet to be born, their lives — and the lives of their mothers — are also at grave risk. Malnutrition increases the risk of premature birth, low birth weight, and maternal mortality for infants and mothers, adding to the already dire hunger crisis for Gaza’s children.
