John, members of Congress from both the House and Senate are heading back into their home districts today, following the House's passage of its bill to further-enrich the ultra-rich and destroy Medicare and Medicaid in the process.

Now is the time to make our voices heard. Social Security Works is organizing events in Republican districts to give constituents a chance to let their members of Congress know how they feel.

Early this morning, House Republicans jammed through a bill to rip health care away from at least 13.7 million Americans and use the money to give massive tax cuts to billionaires.

If this bill becomes law, it will end Medicaid as we know it.

Private insurance will get worse and more expensive.

Hospitals and nursing homes around the country will close.

Entire communities will lose access to health care.

Working and middle class families will suffer, while billionaires get richer.

This fight is far from over. Earlier this week, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) ran away when I asked her about her committee vote to cut Medicaid. She won her election by about 800 votes―but 66,000 people in her district stand to lose their health care because of the bill she just voted for.  

She can run away from me, but she can't run away from her vote to steal our health care, and neither can her colleagues.

Republicans are about to head home on recess. We're working with grassroots activists across the country to make sure they don't get a moment's peace in their districts. Neither will Republican Senators, who will now take up this bill.
