Last night, I participated in a debate with my fellow Democratic candidates for Virginia Lieutenant Governor.

But I wanted to make sure you get a chance to read my closing statement, because it’s really important. You see, while my opponents talk about standing up to Trump, I’ve actually been doing something about it.
I wrote the plan to protect Medicaid for over 600,000 Virginians. I fought for the right to contraception and for constitutional amendments to secure abortion rights, restoration of rights, and marriage equality. I secured over $2 billion of additional funding for public schools. I’m the only candidate who has been endorsed by abortion rights and environmental groups.
We need an executive team that’s ready to hit the ground running on Day One. We need a Lieutenant Governor who doesn’t need on-the-job training. After six years now in the Virginia Senate, I’m ready to be the president of the Senate. I’m ready to be Virginia’s next Lieutenant Governor.
The debate was my chance to remind Virginians that I’m the only candidate who is ready to take on Trump on Day One. I believe I did that. And if you agree, I need your support now more than ever.
With just three weeks remaining before Virginians head cast their ballots, polls continue to show that the race is too close to call.
